Planned Parenthood – a Safe Space for Trans People with HRT & Gender Confirming Healthcare in Washington State and Washington, DC

Did you know that 18+ patients can receive Hormone Replacement Therapy at many Planned Parenthood Health Centers around the country? Check this list for the Planned Parenthood Health Centers around the country that offer Trans Health Care.  Planned Parenthood also has some great educational programs related to gender identities, check the previous link or your local Planned Parenthood Health Center.

Even more importantly, did you know that Planned Parenthood offers many services, even HRT via telehealth?  This means that if you are not physically close to a Planned Parenthood Health Center that offers Hormone Replacement Therapy in your state that has a Telehealth program, you don’t have to travel to a physical site to get HRT.  If the center provides HRT via telehealth, typically a presciption for your hormones can be sent to you and fullfilled at a nearby pharmacy.

Planned Parenthood Health Centers are also great places to get to know because they provide many other important services.  These services include sexual and reproductive health, screenings and treatments for HIV and STD’s, men’s and women’s health care, primary and preventative health care and often also many routine medical screenings for a variety of conditions.  Planned Parenthood Health Centers accept many insurance programs as well as medicare, medicaid, and some can also help you identify an affordable insurance program or help you understand if you qualify for programs to help pay for medical care.

Washington State

Planned Parenthood Health Centers in Washington State are part of (4) Planned  Parenthood organizations, Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest and the Hawaiin Islands – PPGNHI, Mt. Baker Planned Parenthood – MBPP, Planned Parenthood of Columbia-Willamette – PPCW and Planned Parenthood of the Greater Washingnton and North Idaho – PPGWNI.

Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest and the Hawaiin Islands – PPGNHI has (18) Health Centers in Washington, Gender Affirming Hormone Care at all 27 PPGNHI Health Centers, and PGNHI offers Telehealth.  PPGNHI Health Centers in washington all offer sexual/ reproductive health care and women’s & men’s health care as well as HRT.  PPGNHI Health Center locations are in Bellingham, Centralia, Bellevue, Everett, Federal Way, Kent, Lynnwood, Olympia, Port Angeles, Puyallup, Seattle, Central Distict, Seattle, First Hill, Seattle, Northgate, Seattle, White Center, Shelton, Tacoma, Marysville and Seattle, University Distict.  Although the Marysville and Seattle, University District health center websites don’t identify HRT as a service, the PPGNHI website states that all 27 PPGNHI health centers offer Gender Affirming Hormone Therapy.

Mt. Baker Planned Parenthood – MBPP has (3) Health Centers, Gender Affirming Hormone Therapy at (2) health centers and MBPP also offers Telehealth.  All of the health centers offer sexual/reproductive health care, women’s and men’s health care and service referrals to LGBTQ patients.  The health centers located in  The health centers that offere HRT are located in Bellingham and Mount Vernon and there is another health center in San Juan Island.

Planned Parenthood of Columbia-Willamette – PPCW has (1) Health Center in Washington in Vancouver that offers sexual/ reproductive and women’s & men’s health care.

Planned Parenthood of Greater Washingnton and North Idaho – PPGWNI has (11) Health Centers in Central and Eastern Washington.  The Health Centers which all offer sexual/reproductive and women’s & men’s health care are located in Ellensburg, Kennewick, Moses Lake, Pasco, Pullman, Spokane, Sunnyside, Walla Walla, Wenatchee, Yakima and Spokane Valley which also offers service referrals for LGBTQ patients

Washington, D.C.

Planned Parenthood Health Centers in the District of Columbia are part of (1) organization, Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington, DC, Inc., – PPMWDC.  PPMWDC has (3) Health Centers (2) in the District of Columbia and (1) in Maryland and also has, Gender Affirming Care and Telehealth.  The health centers offer sexual/ repoductive health care, women’s & men’s health care, service referrals for LGBTQ patients and hormone replacement therapy at the following locations Caroll Whitehill Moses Center, D.C., Suitland, D.C. and Gaithersburg, Maryland

About the author, Gayle M.
